We expect registration to open around 10/9/2026.

Join us, Houston Orienteering Club, for our third meet of the 26-27 season at Jones State Park for a traditional point-to-point Orienteering competition. We welcome all ages and experience levels to join us in Orienteering, the “thinking sport” of navigating using a map and compass.

When? November 21, 2026

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, November 18th, 2026 at 8 PM registration closes and payment/waivers are due. Competitors and Recreational/Map Hikers must preregister online to participate.  Maps are printed based on online registration numbers.

Type – Standard Courses, Point-to-Point
Courses – White, Yellow, Orange (Intermediate), Black (Extended Intermediate) 
Course Time Limit – 3 hours
Punching – E-Punch Required for all competitors (Recreational Map Hikers are NOT required to e-punch and NOT eligible for awards)
Map – 1:10,000, 2.5m contour interval, 2026
Terrain – moderately dense network of trails and forest roads in forested terrain with slight elevation.
Location – WG Jones State Forest, Conroe, TX
Additional – portable toilets
Course Lengths : White 2-3 km, Yellow 3-4 km, Orange 4-6 km, Black 6-7 km

Registration closes on 18 Nov 2026 8:00 pm

Payments must be received in advance by the closing of online registration by Wednesday 18 November at 8:00 PM, by School check, PayPal, or credit card. There are no payments or waivers accepted at the event. You may be turned away for nonpayment or missing waivers and not allowed to participate in the event.  

E-PUNCH

  • Competitors are required to use E-Punch and are eligible for medals.
  • Recreational Map Hikers are NOT required to use E-Punch and are NOT eligible for medals.
  • If you do not have an E-Punch (SI Card), HOC rentals may be available for $5

  • Photo ID required for E-punch rental, Replacement cost of E-Stick Rental is $40.

ENTRY FEES

  • Competitors – must use an e-punch for scoring.
    • $10 Competitor Entry (e-punch owner) or
    • $15 Competitor Entry with e-punch Rental
    • Each class is eligible for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards
  • Recreational Map Hikers
    • $5 Recreational Map Hiker Entry – NOT eligible for awards
Step#1: REGISTRATION – CLOSES AT 8 PM ON 18 NOVEMBER 2026

Step#2: PAYMENT

    • Pay online during registration with a Credit Card or PayPal

    • For School Checks, postmarked by 11/9/2025 to HOC treasurer MAY get delivered on time. It is the responsibility of the competitor to get payment in by the 11/18/2026 deadline. Send checks to:

Step#3: Waiver(s)

    • Once you have all waivers completed and signed, upload them as a single PDF file to our waiver upload form.
    • Every participant must have a completed waiver prior to competing.  If the participant is under 18, the waiver must be signed by their parent or legal guardian.

Step#4: Check Who’s Registered?

  • Please allow 24-48 hrs for most recent changes to registration, if you do not see correct registration data please contact us.
